SKYN ICELAND

Pure Cloud Cream

Why You’ll Love It

  • We’re on ~cloud 9~ over this fluffy, pillowy dream cream that works wonders on literally all skin types.
  • The ultra-calming formula soothes sensitive skin, hydrates, and gives you a smoother, softer complexion.
  • No greasy residue here. The whipped formula soaks right into your skin.

How to Use It – 3 Different Ways to Use This Face Cream

  1. Morning makeup primer: Smooth allover your clean face. Then apply your fave foundation. It’ll create a super-smooth base to make your makeup look fresher, longer.
  2. Mid-day moisture boost: Carry this moisturizer and gently press into your skin for a quickie quench up.
  3. Nighttime dream cream: After cleansing, apply a generous dollop of this cream to your face and neck. Hit the hay and spend an extra minute staring at your gorg skin in the AM.

My overall thoughts: I thought it was really cool how fluffy it was, but it wasn’t super moisturizing… it would absorb into my skin really fast and I had to use a lot of product to feel like I was wearing anything. However, I think this would be really great for anyone with oily skin or who likes light products!

HIKARI

Cream Pigment Eyeshadow in Shine or Envy

Why You’ll Love It

  • The creamy texture is super blendable, pigmented, and stays put all day (ours lasted from morning meetings and post-work pilates to a dinner date).
  • Shine is a glitzy gold that was all over the runways at fashion week! It’s just begging to be worn all spring long.

My overall thoughts: Super pigmented, shiny, and bold! I love it. Its really versatile and I can use it as an eyeshadow, or lightly as a golden glow highlight. I’d buy other colors from this brand!

SKONE COSMETICS

Large Shadow Brush

Why You’ll Love It

  • This super fluffy brush has a wide bristle head that packs down and blends shadows like a boss.
  • It doesn’t play faves. This brush works like magic with all your powder, cream, *and* liquid formulas.
  • Have a brush with kindness. The bristles on this baby are totally synthetic and cruelty-free.

How to Use It – Get a Smoky, Sultry Look with Just One Brush

  1. Using one side of the brush, sweep a light neutral shade across your entire lid, up to your brow bone.
  2. Flip over the brush, then apply a medium shade up to your crease, using a windshield-wiper motion.
  3. Using that same side, apply a dark shade to the outer corners of your eyes, blending up and inwards in a swirling motion to diffuse the look, making sure there are no streaks or harsh lines left.
  4. Remember to give the brush a good cleaning afterwards (baby shampoo and warm water does the trick) and let it dry fully before using it again.

My overall thoughts: Love love love this brush, its much stiffer and easier to handle than other eyeshadow brushes I’ve used. This is my new favorite eye brush!

TARTE COSMETICS

Sex Kitten Eyeliner

Why You’ll Love It

  • This inky black, creamy pencil is our go-to for tightlining, feline flicks, and more. Meow.
  • Ever laugh so hard you cry? (Us, too.) It’s totally waterproof, so you can have an lol-fest without smudging your eye look.
  • It glides on ever-so smoothly and effortlessly with no tugging or pulling. Pinky swear.
My overall thoughts: This is an awesome eyeliner; it glides on smooth, does not smudge, and it PERFECT for your waterline!!! This might be something I’d restock on when I run out…

BENEFIT COSMETICS

BADGal Bang Mascara in Pitch Black

Why You’ll Love It

  • This baby is brand new, people. Benefit makes some of our fave mascaras, like ever, So we couldn’t wait to try this one out (and make sure you get your hands on it, too).
  • To say it’s lightweight is an understatement. This formula is made with aero-particles, a super-light material used in space technology, so it won’t weight down your lashes.
  • Found yourself in a full-blown “This Is Us” marathon? It’s smudge-proof and water-resistant, so feel free to binge.
  • No lash will be left uncoated—the brush is slim and designed to grab onto every lash from root to tip, even those hard-to-reach inner corner ones. Oh and the wand’s handle has black stud shapes on it that are just so cool.

My overall thoughts: I like this mascara! The want is really thin and it spreads my lashes while coating them with enough mascara for boldness but without being clumpy. Benefit has never disappointed me with their mascaras (: glad to add this to the collection.

Hi, I'm the founder of The PhDream. I'm a second year doctoral student who wasn't satisfied with just sitting behind a desk and writing papers. While my research may have an indirect impact, I wanted to engage more directly with the community and provide a platform to discuss neglected and sensitive issues. Along with that, I try to stay sane in my program by stress baking, glamming up even when I'm down, and sharing my dad-joke captions on the gram -- if only that creativity could translate into my research... Anyways, I'm always looking for contributors, collaborations, and people to eat my zelicious creations, so don't hesitate to reach out or follow me @ZuniJilani :)
